Shooting USA - End of Trail 2008 It’s the largest gathering of cowboys in the world and the World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting. Bring your six guns and your big hat for the annual gathering of SASS members outside Albuquerque, New Mexico.
There is no denying the appeal of putting on an oversized hat, and a pair of boots, to live out the role of your cowboy alias. That’s part of what makes the Single Action Shooting Society one of the great success stories in the shooting sports. And the two week End of Trail celebration of the western lifestyle, and world championships of cowboy action shooting is the place to be for cowboy and cowgirl action shooters. So much so that Mike Irvine couldn’t resist getting in costume to cover the story from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Of course, nobody knows him as Mike Irvine out there, only as SASS member Black Bottle Mike.
He reports that End of Trail at Founders Ranch has become a significant tourist event, bringing in thousands of visitors from across the United States, in addition to a thousand SASS members shooting for National Titles in a wide range of categories.
