Shooting USA - AR-15 3-Gun and The NMLRA Nationals
 We begin with the first 3-Gun Match set up to invite beginners into the sport. The top champions first teach the newcomers, before they compete in Run and Gun action in the Blue Grass state.
Rock Castle Shooting Center is the location for a three gun match that’s taken on a Pro Am format to invite new shooters. The Amateurs are shooting similar stages of fire to those for the Professionals, but the challenges are slightly less difficult.
Juan Avila’s web forum www.AR15.com is the title sponsor and the primary means of inviting black rifle fans to come and shoot. The idea is to expose the forum members to the sport who otherwise wouldn’t be in a three gun match.
As assistance to first time shooters entering the amateur match, some of the top Professionals first conducted seminars on technique to get everybody started off safely and with some high-level coaching for their first time on the range.

 You know with most muzzleloaders you can shoot a couple of pellets of Pyrodex or Triple 7 and be just fine. With a 250 grain or 270 grain saboted bullet, you can expect a three-inch group at 100 yards.
But, if you’re one of those hunters who desires more precision, you want to fine tune that group, then you’ve got to switch to granular powder and work up a custom load for your particular gun.
 The first step in working up a custom load is to choose your bullet. You might choose a bonded bullet where the sabot is attached to the slug. Or you can use a loose saboted bullet. The point is once you make your choice, stay with it for consistency purposes as you work up the load.
After you’ve determined the bullet you want to use, it’s time to start playing with different powder charges. Pick a powder of your choice. A loose granular black powder, or Pyrodex, Triple 7, whatever. And start with 70 grains. Shoot three shots. Shoot a three-shot group of 70 grains. Swab between each shot. Make sure that barrel is good and clean. Then work up in increments of 10 grains.
 Shoot a three-shot group with 80 grains, 90 grains, all the way up to 120 grains. Then take a look at those groups to see which one gives best performance in your gun.
So what’s the end result of all this process? If you fine-tune your load, you should be able to shoot two-inch groups at 100 yards. Your gun and load will be good enough, if you’re good enough.
RCBS Reloading Tip – Rifle Bullet Feeder
 Out of the box the RCBS Rifle Bullet Feeder will work on an RCBS Pro 2000, or a Hornady Lock-N-Load press, with jacketed bullets only.
Kent: “The RCBS Rifle bullet feeder differs from the pistol bullet feeder with this system. If feeds and seats the bullet at the same time. I’ll show you how to install this on a Pro 2000 press.”
The first step is using the rifle bullet feeder is to install the cam plate assembly to the powder measure. Remove the screws from upper bracket of the powder measure. Add the plate and install two screws.
 Kent: “ Remove the die plate and install the rifle bullet feeder feed and seating system into station four of the die plate. Once it’s threaded in, you reinstall it onto the press.”
Now we will adjust the bullet feeder parts. Insert the case under the powder measure and run it up. Slide the cam assembly to activate the bullet feeder push bar and lock it into place. Now add a bullet to the cut out and adjust the spring holder so that the white pin is level with the top of the bullet.
 Kent: “ Now we’re going to do both seating adjustments. Start with inserting a bullet into the bullet feed die. Manually cycle the powder measure to allow bullets to fall into position for seating. Raise the case up into the die. Check you bullet seating depth, if it needs to go deeper, you adjust it with the bullet seat plug.”
Now add the clear feed tube, the shutoff sensor and the spring tube. Raise the collator to the proper height to attach the spring tube. Dump you bullets into the collator and turn it on. Now you’re ready for powder and primers and turning out a high volume of rounds.
